Gamera Rebirth: A Netflix series of a Turtle that saves Tokyo from Giant Human-Eating monsters

Netflix is set to release an animated series, of a character named Gamera with the name Gamera Rebirth. Gamera is basically an animated character, who is in the form of a giant turtle, that can fly and combat. The series Gamera Rebirth is an original Japanese Netflix series. This would be the first animated series in the Gamera franchise of Gamera. The director of the series is Hiroyuki Seshita and he is also one of the writers of the show. Other than Hiroyuki, Kenta Ihara, Hiroshi Seko and Tetsuya Yamada are the writers of the show.   

Release Date of Gamera Rebirth, A Netflix series

Back in 2005, the licence of the character Gamera was given to Cartoon Network, because they were in a process to release an animated series. Nevertheless, things didn’t work out and the project was stopped. After Kadokawa’s announcement about Gamera in November 2022, the series was renamed to Gamera Rebirth. Animation of the series will be in the hands of ENGI studio, which is one of the best. 

Gamera Rebirth is set to release on Netflix official site on 7 September 2023 globally.

Plot of the series

This is Netflix’s brief description about the series,”In the summer of 1989, four kids in Tokyo witness the emergence of the turtle Kaiju Gamera, who bravely stands up against giant human-eating monsters”. 

This is the story of 1989, where Tokyo gets attacked by giant human-eating monsters. Four kids, when they gather, witness that a Kaiju named Gamera has emerged. On the other hand, about 5 giants attack the city and the human force is fighting against them. In the series, Gamera is shown fighting against 5 Kaijus, where it tries to protect the city. The five Kaijus are named as Gyaos, Jiger, Zigra, Guiron and Viras.
