Netflix is all set to release an upcoming anime series which is based on one of the very popular games named, ‘Onimusha’. The makers announced the anime adaptation of the game during Netflix’s 2022 “Tudum”. Shin’ya Sugai along with chief director Takashi Miike have directed the series. Onimusha Anime Series Release Date
The makers of the series released the official trailer on Netflix site and Youtube on 20 September 2023. 1.9 million plus people have watched the trailer on Youtube alone. Expectations of it to reach an even higher audience is high because of the popularity of the Onimusha game.

Musashi Miyamoto who is the main character of the series is modelled by Toshiro Mifune and voiced by Akio Otsuka.

Plot of the Series
This is Netflix’s brief introduction about the series: ‘With a demonic weapon in hand, wandering swordsman-for-hire and a samurai brotherhood take on an uprising of the undead’.
Onimusha Game and Gameplay
Onimusha is a series of games which was first introduced in 1997. It was Yoshiki Okamoto’s idea to create Sengoku Biohazard, which is a ninja version of the game Resident Evil. They made changes accordingly with the same idea as Resident Evil to give it a ninja game feel. Earlier, Onimusha: Warlords was also developed to release it in playstation, but it was delayed to playstation 2. The makers have introduced a total of 9 versions of this game till 2012. The last and latest version was released in 2012 for playstation 3.
There are multiple protagonists in this game, because it changes in every version. The makers, however kept one thing common in all and that is that they all are very skilled swordsmen. One power which is common in all versions is that the protagonist can absorb Genma souls from defeated enemies. Those Genma souls can help the protagonist to heal, infuse powers in weapons and also in armour. Also it helps to unleash elemental attack with special weapons.
