One of the most versatile actors in the Bollywood industry, Rajkummar Rao was born on 31st August 1984. Worked in more than 30 films, today Rajkummar is one of the most renowned actors. His hard work, consistency and patience resulted in him being in the Forbes India’s celebrity 100 list. After completing acting education from Films and Television Institute of India (FTII), Rajkummar got several works as a supporting role. Love Sex Aur Dhoka (2010) was Rajkummar Rao’s debut film in the industry. He got roles as a supporting actor in films like Gangs of Wasseypur II and Talaash. Rao has been nominated several times for filmfare award, national film award, because of his outstanding performances in movies.
Life of Rajkummar Rao
Born in Gurgaon, Haryana, India, Rajkummar is the youngest among three children to his parents. Satya Prakash Yadav, Rajkummar’s father was an employee at Haryana Revenue Department, whereas, his mother Kamlesh Yadav was a homemaker. After losing both his father and mother in a time span of 3 years, Rajkummar Rao was disturbed. But, keeping aside his sorrow and emotions, he continued to work as an actor, achieving great heights. Rajkummar used to do theatres with Kshitij Theatre Group and alongside that, he went to Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College for graduation. Rajkummar also went to Shri Ram Centre in Delhi for theatre work.
Rajkummar’s biggest inspiration has been Manoj Bajpayee, who is also one of the most versatile actors of the industry. Rajkummar once said that after watching Manoj Bajpayee performance in 2008, he was motivated enough to enrol in a 2 year course at FTII. Rajkummar Rao is a complete vegetarian, because he believes in a certain way of living. In 2014, after changing surname from Yadav to Rao, Rajkummar gave the reason that both are family names and I can use either of them. He has also taken formal training in Taekwondo. Rajkummar added an extra ‘M’ in his name, which is for his mother, as she used to believe in numerology. On 15 November 2021, he married his girlfriend Patralekha Paul in Chandigarh after being in a relationship since 2010.

Bollywood Career
Rajkummar’s first work after graduating from FTII was in Ram Gopal Verma’s Rann movie, where he was a news reader. After clearing the auditions for the movie ‘Love Sex Aur Dhoka’, he worked alongside Neha Chauhan in the second story. After getting success in debut film, Rajkummar worked in a similar film named Ragini MMS by Ekta Kapoor. “Kai Po Che” in 2013, acted as the breakthrough for Rajkummar Rao and from there onwards his journey as an actor completely changed. Rajkummar has won several awards, out of which the most dignified are the Filmfare award and Asia Pacific Screen Award for best performance.
